• FAQ •
How would you describe your style?
Simple and real. I approach weddings in a candid, documentary (photojournalistic)
style, always trying to capture the moments as they happen to tell the best
story of your day.
What would you say is most important when choosing a photographer?
By now, you have browsed through my portfolio of weddings and you like
what you see. That's the first step in choosing the right photographer for
your wedding. You've got to love the images that they create. Also, how consistent are they in their
work? Ask to see a full set of pictures from one or two weddings, not just
their best portfolio images. Are you still impressed?
I also think you should like your photographer as a person. It's important
to get along and be on the same page about the style of photography you
are looking for and what's important to you. Meet and see if you click.
And go with your gut! Does something about the images move you or strike
you in a certain way? I really believe that finding the right wedding photographer
is the most important decision you will make. And if you feel the connection
and trust their talent and ability, hire them! It's the best investment
you will make. Years from now when your mind forgets all the little details
of your wedding day, your pictures will remain and they will help you remember.
How many weddings do you shoot in a weekend?
Yours and only yours. I have found that by shooting only one wedding per
weekend, I am able to do my best work. I am rested and ready to focus on
your wedding, rather than being tired from a late wedding the night before.
This also leaves me available if you would like to include rehearsal coverage
in your package.
What kind of equipment do you use?
I shoot exclusively with Canon Digital SLR cameras and lenses and always
carry backups of everything.
Besides your candid coverage, do you do posed pictures?
I prefer to capture things as they happen without staging events, but I
do allow up to an hour for some simple family/bridal party photos. I
also like to take a little time with the bride and groom and let you be together
and enjoy your first moments as husband and wife.
How many pictures do you take?
Digital allows us to take hundreds of pictures. When all editing is done,
you will normally receive between 400-600 images (sometimes more). The number
varies from wedding to wedding.
Do you shoot in color and black & white?
Yes! I shoot a little of both. If I had to estimate, I would say that approx. 60% of the images are
black & white and the remainder in color.
How many hours do you cover at a wedding?
Our base package is for 8 hours of coverage. Occasionally a longer day will require
extra time, which can be added for an additional fee of $250 per hour.
Do you have an assistant?
Yes. My pricing includes an assistant, who also acts as a second shooter
when needed. My
assistant is very important to me, from helping me with my equipment
to being another pair of eyes since I can't be everywhere at once, she is crucial to what I do.
Do you require a meal at the reception?
Yes, please provide food for myself and my assistant(s). Weddings are a
lot of work. Help us stay energized so we can be at the top of our game for
your big day!
Do you belong to any photography associations?
I am a VERY proud member of the WPJA
- Wedding Photojournalist Association
- an amazing resource for finding the most talented wedding photojournalists
in the industry. I also belong to WPPI - Wedding and Portrait Photographers
International.
How much time do you spend on each wedding?
Photographing a wedding is so much more than the 8 hours spent shooting
the event. Many hours are spent from the uploading of files, through the
editing process, to the delivery of the images to you. On average,
40-60+ hours of time is put into your wedding, sometimes more if you've chosen
a package that includes albums.
Do you give discounts for Friday night or winter weddings?
Please contact us. We are happy to customize
packages to meet your specific needs.
How can I check your availability?
Check the AVAILABILITY page (below) for a list of dates.
Contact us to confirm your date.
If we book with A Picture's Worth, will Kris Noorman be our photographer?
Yes. I am the owner and primary photographer and I will be there to capture
your special day along with my assistant(s).
Can we meet you before we book the date?
Absolutely! I would love to meet you and get to know you a bit. I think
it's really important to be comfortable with the person you hire for your
wedding. And I love to meet new people and hear your stories and wedding plans.
It's one of the best things about my job.
What is the required down payment and when is final payment due?
A 50% retainer and signed wedding agreement will reserve your date. This
will be applied to your total and the remaining balance is due no later
than four weeks before the wedding. (Eight weeks before the wedding for destination/out of state/out of country weddings)
What kind of payment options are available?
We accept check, money order, VISA, Master Card, Discover, American Express
and Paypal.
How long after the wedding will we receive our pictures?
Within a week or two of the wedding, we will post a sneak peek slideshow
with some highlights of the day. The remainder of your pictures will be
edited and posted online at the proof website 3 to 5 weeks after the wedding.
Prints, disks and other chosen products will be delivered 4 to 6 weeks after
the wedding, with the exception of albums. Once album design is completed
and approved by you, the printing/binding process takes 6 to 8 weeks.
Will I receive a disk of my images so I can make prints myself?
The "sweet & simple" package includes a high res DVD of your wedding images along with a release giving you permission to make prints at the lab of your choice.
Can I use the high resolution DVD to make my own prints?
Yes. A written release is included with the disk(s) giving you permission
to make unlimited prints for personal use. A Picture's Worth retains the copyright to all images.
Do you offer rehearsal/rehearsal dinner coverage?
This is not included in my pricing, but can be added for an extra fee. Contact us.
Should we give you a list of shots to take during the day?
The only list I require is a brief list of posed pictures you would like
taken - family members and bridal party. Other than that, no list is needed.
Since I shoot in a candid, documentary style, I am not traditional and a list only
hinders the way that I work. You have browsed through my wedding gallery, seen my work
and are drawn to my style. Rest assured that I will create wonderful images for you
that capture the story of your day.
Do you travel and are there any travel fees?
The majority of my work is done in Michigan, but I love to travel and will gladly go
anywhere for a wedding. 100 miles of total travel are included in our pricing. Every
mile traveled over this is billed at a rate of $0.75/mile. Travel over 300
miles may require an extra fee for one or two overnight hotel stays depending on how far away the wedding is from our location. Destination
weddings must pay all travel fees, including flights, transportation, accommodations
and meals for myself and one assistant. All travel fees will be agreed upon in advance and added to the total of your package to be paid in full before the wedding. If you have any questions regarding
travel, please contact us. We look forward to traveling
with you.
